English 102 Reaction

Image
Throughout the many years of high school, I never felt comfortable with writing essays until I started college. English 101 guided me in the structure and how to organize my thoughts on paper and construct a body of words. Instead the young girls were well aware of their coarse hair or that they were not light enough in skin tone. The Dominican Divide was very real and it existed where the Alvarez family moved and also in their own household. She witnessed division at home based on her appearance.

In the play A Streetcar Named Desire,  Tennesse Williams focuses in on Blanche's past and present day life. The drama and tragic events captured my attention very much, and that is what draws the reader in. The class discussed the many themes connected to the play such as: Lack of truth and acceptance Sexual and emotional desire Fantasy vs. Reality Creating an illusion vs. facing the truth/life Isolation - darkness level of shame, illusion that thrives when it is a "dark" time In this lecture I depicted how each character affected and was affected by each other.
